Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam is a community built on innovative ideas, a depth of experience, broad research and forward thinking.
This campus is set up to successfully navigate the energy transition. Together with Shell, start-ups, scale-ups, research institutes, academia and mature companies have the opportunity to collaborate and innovate to develop solutions for the energy transition.

AGH, one of Poland's top technical universities, is renowned for its energy, mining, and metallurgy programs. The university fosters a knowledge-based society and creates innovative technologies. Students work on industry-relevant projects with partners like Shell. AQUABATTERY
AQUABATTERY offers long duration energy storage that is affordable, sustainable, and safe, with their revolutionary solution to store solar and wind electricity in table salt and water.
AQUABATTERY has set up their R&D team in ETCA to advance innovation and product development and prepare for the commercialization of their novel flow battery. “Having a fully equipped professional lab is a game-changer for us! AVEVA
AVEVA develops software that enables companies to build a more sustainable future. Together with their partners, academia and policymakers, AVEVA develops and implements global digital solutions for decarbonization and net zero operations. They focus on improving efficiency, reducing waste and optimizing resource use, enabling their customers to minimize environmental impact and together accelerate the energy transition. The addition of AVEVA to ETCA's ecosystem adds significant value because of their expertise in information management, digital twins and software solutions in the changing energy landscape.

Since 2018, Shell has scaled our predictive maintenance program, powered by C3 AI technology, to monitor and maintain more than 10,000 pieces of equipment in upstream, manufacturing, and integrated gas assets across the global asset base — one of the largest such deployments in the energy industry. And we are not going to stop here. Shell and C3 AI are expanding our cooperation in the areas of Sustainability and ESG to accurately report ESG performance and to reduce emissions. Combining innovation brain powers from our companies under one roof in ETCA will further accelerate our journey towards the energy transition.”
CarbonOro
CarbonOrO delivers carbon capture solutions to industrial CO2 emitters across industries including waste management, energy, oil & gas and the glass, chemicals, steel, cement and concrete industries. In these hard-to-abate sectors, capturing and storing (or using) CO2 is indispensable to reduce emissions. CarbonOrO was awarded an ETCA membership for their proposal at the Leapsprong programme to create a Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) value chain within the Westport area in Amsterdam.

The family-owned company, founded in 1953 by Georg H Endress and headquartered in Reinach, Switzerland, has been pushing ahead with the development and use of innovative technologies, now helping to shape the industry’s digital transformation. Through membership of the ETCA, Endress+Hauser will contribute its extensive expertise in process automation, expanding the ETCA's capabilities in critical areas such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), hydrogen and low carbon fuel production and development of the circular economy.

50five was founded in 2016 by its existing management team and is a Charge Point Operator (CPO) headquartered in ‘s Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. 50five provides integrated, A to Z e-mobility solutions, including energy management, energy storage and Charging as A Service with a current customer base of more than 35.000 charge points. 50five is present in 6 European countries, dedicated to offering the best EV experience, with the ambition to become the largest Charge Point Operator in Europe by 2030.

Huracán Technical Advisory company is making an impact in the development of Dutch Flagship Wind Parks. Under the leadership of Founder and CEO Vincent van der Meijden, Huracán has over a decade of experience in managing requirements and scope for offshore renewable energy projects and corporate sustainability management. They leverage SaaS and AI tools to help clients achieve their sustainability goals.

Politecnico di Torino
Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) is one of the most prestigious technical universities in Turin, Italy. POLITO is already a renowned research partner for Shell, collaborating in several European Union-funded research consortia. The most recent consortium, HySET is a Master of science program focused on hydrogen (H2) technology. Through the consortium and the ETCA membership, we have been able to host students of POLITO in our campus in Amsterdam, with more students expected to join us in 2025 and 2026.
Radix Engineering & Software
Location: CW-04
Radix helps clients revolutionize their approach to engineering problems using digital technologies. The key opportunities they see in the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam, is to jointly drive net-zero offshore production, convert existing facilities to green hydrogen and accelerate the journey to autonomous operations.
RCGI
RCGI is at the forefront of Brazil's commitment to environmental sustainability, engaging 600 researchers worldwide in the same mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. RCGI already has ongoing connections in the Netherlands with renowned institutes such as TNO and the Delft University of Technology and focuses specifically on nature-based solutions; carbon capture, utilization and storage; hydrogen; biofuels; mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and advocacy which are fully aligned with ETCA's key themes.
SBM Offshore
SBM Offshore is the SBM Offshore is the world’s deepwater ocean-infrastructure expert. They are delivering a TRUE.BLUE.TRANSITION. – advancing decarbonization and the energy transition while diversifying to support more industries with their marine capabilities. SBM Offshore is mindful that the energy transition is a collective effort and built on collaboration and decided to join the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam.
Senai Cimatec
Senai Cimatec is a research institute from Brazil, specialized in education, science, and innovation for industrial development. Established in 2002, this research institute excels in education, science, and innovation for industrial development. SENAI Cimatec offers diverse academic programs and leads international research projects in the energy transition. Notable collaborations with Shell include the BRAVE and FlatFish programs, advancing bioenergy and underwater infrastructure inspection. As an accelerator/incubator, SENAI Cimatec also supports sustainable growth in the Deep Tech industry.

Technip Energies

"Technip Energies and Shell are strengthening their alliance to achieve affordable carbon capture around the Cansolv technology. The 2 teams will co-locate into the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam to achieve technology improvements, engineering improvements and align our marketing to customers. Collaborating with other members in ETCA will enable us jointly to resolve complexity, to overcome challenges, and foster a sustainable ecosystem for industry and the planet."
TNO

"TNO is pleased to become a member of the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam as part of a fruitful cooperation that helped kickstart the POWERED project, in which novel technology will be piloted in Amsterdam to produce renewable DME fuel from captured CO2 in a significantly more efficient process and make DME a more competitive alternative for fossil fuels such as diesel and LPG."
Universiteit Utrecht
"The Weckhuysen group of Utrecht University is the frontrunner of the development of advanced (operando) spectroscopic methods that are essential to rationally design the catalyst required for the energy transition of our time. The group’s tremendous knowledge on the use of these techniques and the studied industrially relevant chemical reactions, such as CO2-hydrogenation or dry reforming of methane, will be an important building block of ETCA to accelerate the transformation of industry towards green technologies."

XRG Technologies, headquartered in Oklahoma, USA, is expanding to Europe and has chosen ETCA as their European home base. Known for their innovative heat transfer solutions, XRG is on a mission to provide sustainable energy solutions to refineries, petrochemical plants, and power facilities, a crucial step in the transition to cleaner energy.
Yokogawa

Introducing GBM works

Marjan Oudeman, Chair ARC CBBCWithin ARC CBBC a number of universities and companies work jointly in open collaboration on Green Chemistry. Without Shell, key research in areas like small molecule activation, electrochemical CO₂ conversion and sustainable catalytic processes would not be as far advanced. We are excited to see that Shell is now also opening up its Technology Centre in Amsterdam to welcome other partners to innovate. The more we can build on each other’s strengths, the bigger the impact on a more sustainable future.
